Dr. Laura Markowitz is a Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident specializing in clinical psychology. She earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. Her major paper focused on treatment outcomes in children diagnosed with disruptive behavior disorders. Dr. Markowitz provides individual, family, and group therapy, as well as psychological testing.


Dr. Markowitz is proficient in treating clients presenting with symptoms of behavior disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her professional approach combines evidence-based therapies with a client-centered focus, aiming to create effective, personalized treatment plans and strong therapeutic alliances. Her main goal in therapy is to help clients form a plan of action to live their best lives.


Through various practica and internships, Dr. Markowitz gained extensive clinical experience. Most recently, she completed a predoctoral internship at Centerstone in Bradenton, FL. There, she provided therapy services to children, families, and adults facing a range of mental health disorders and major life changes. Prior to this, Dr. Markowitz was a Psychology Trainee at Broward Children's Center, where she worked with teens and young adults in a pediatric nursing home setting, adapting treatments for clients with degenerative diseases, and Henderson Behavioral Health’s Adult Outpatient branch, providing therapy to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.


Dr. Markowitz is also proficient in psychological testing. Her experience as a psychology trainee and clinic coordinator at the ADHD Assessment, Consultation, and Treatment Program at Nova Southeastern University, focused on diagnosing and treating learning and neurodevelopmental disorders. Further, her experience conducting testing for the Children’s Community Action Team at Centerstone focused on diagnosing a wide variety of disorders. She is trained in psychological testing, including projective and objective personality measures, attentional measures, behavior measures, trauma measures, IQ measures, and cognitive measures. She is also trained in “gold-standard” autism assessments for children.
