Dr. Alayjah Anderson is a Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident who provides individual psychotherapy and psychological testing. She earned her doctorate in School Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. She received specialized training to provide individual, group, and family therapy for diverse clients of all ages, socioeconomic status, and cultural backgrounds. Her knowledge and skills were shaped from a variety of unique settings including ChildNet, The Baudhuin Preschool, and Nova Southeastern University’s University School (U-School). Most recently, Dr. Anderson completed her APPIC-accredited internship at the Harris County Children’s Assessment Center (Harris County CAC), where she provided psychotherapy and completed psychological evaluations in a community mental health setting.

 

Throughout her training, Dr. Anderson has gained experience and proficiency in treating clients who present with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), specific learning disabilities (SLDs), depression, anxiety, and trauma. Throughout her internship at the Harris County CAC, Dr. Anderson was trained in effective strategies for providing psychological services to survivors of child sexual abuse and their family members. She provides psychotherapy utilizing evidence-based approaches including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Unstructured and Directive Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).

 

Dr. Anderson combines the psychodynamic approach with client-centered practices to create treatment goals that are reasonable and easily sustained. She builds trust with her clients by displaying empathy and transparency. Dr. Anderson focuses on creating a strong therapeutic alliance that increases her ability to assess her client’s readiness for change and support their therapeutic needs.
