Avi Gordon, Psy.D.

Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident

Dr. Avi J. Gordon is a Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident who provides psychotherapy and psychological testing to children, adolescents, and adults. He earned his doctorate (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University of Maryland, an American Psychological Association accredited program. Prior to this, he obtained his Master of Arts degree in Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University.Dr. Gordon has gained specialized training and expertise through his clinical work at the following outpatient settings: Center For Anxiety, Wellness Center (College Counseling) of Stevenson University, Chase Brexton Health Care, and at the Faulk Center for Counseling in Florida where he completed his APA-accredited internship.


Throughout his training, he has participated in research investigating emerging-adult well-being at Columbia University and the mental health benefits of religious development and spiritual identity at Loyola University Maryland. He has developed specialized knowledge and expertise in evidence-informed interventions, including Interpersonal and Family Systems Theory, Humanistic, and Acceptance and Commitment Psychotherapy (ACT), as well as, Mindfulness and Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) interventions. He is experienced working with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of concerns including depressive and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, in addition to relationship and interpersonal challenges, related to personal or professional identity, grief, sexual and gender identity development, couples and family therapy.


In practice, Dr. Gordon works together with his clients to integrate evidence-informed psychotherapeutic interventions with their specific needs. He strives to collaborate with clients to help them navigate through their personal journeys toward growth and adaptive functioning, placing significant consideration on the therapeutic relationship. This facilitates an environment for non-judgment exploration and self-reflection, and helps foster clients’ ability to challenge themselves and fulfill their goals. As a psychologist, Dr. Gordon believes in his own personal and professional development and participates in continued education, consultation and advocacy in an effort toward increasing competence and clinical growth.
